An air conditioner uses the following five components to work its magic.
- Compressor
- Refrigerant
- Condenser
- Expansion Valve
- Evaporator Coil
First
The compressor keeps controls air flow. It continues to pull warm air inside, so that the rest of the parts can do their jobs.
Second
Refrigerant has an interesting property that allows the heat from outside your home to change it from a gas to a liquid. This transformation occurs inside the condenser.
Third
The expansion valve changes hot fluid from the outside into cool mist on the inside. This state change is possible because gas cools as it expands.
Fourth
The evaporator coil creates cool air to regulate the temperature of your home.
